The Humanitarian Dialogue Foundation (HDF), in collaboration with the European Institute for Dialogue and Development (EIDE), hosted an official parliamentary tour in London for a delegation from the Iraqi Council of Representatives, aimed at strengthening democratic practices and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Over the course of a week, Iraqi MPs participated in a series of meetings and sessions with British parliamentarians, legal scholars, and policy advisors. The program included formal visits to the UK Houses of Parliament, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and various parliamentary committees, providing Iraqi delegates with valuable exposure to the UK’s legislative and oversight frameworks.
Workshops were held on topics including parliamentary transparency, oversight mechanisms, and legislative ethics, allowing participants to share challenges and solutions from their respective contexts. The delegation also engaged in dialogue with UK-based civil society organizations working in governance, human rights, and civic education.
This visit underscored HDF’s role as a bridge-builder between institutions and nations. It reflected the Foundation’s long-term vision of supporting institutional reform in Iraq through knowledge exchange and sustained dialogue.
The tour concluded with a commitment to ongoing collaboration between British and Iraqi lawmakers and a shared belief in the importance of inclusive, accountable governance.
